Depression has a significant impact on individuals, family and the whole community. Pharmacists and pharmacy staff, due to their role and accessibility in the community, have the potential to support people with common mental health conditions such as depression. Recognising Depression is an interactive program that aims to provide pharmacists and pharmacy staff with general mental health literacy, signs and impact of depression and practical strategies to support the mental health of people in their community.
This training aims to increase the skills and confidence of pharmacists and pharmacy staff to:
- Have a conversation with someone who you suspect to be experiencing depression or suicidal thoughts.
- Identify evidence-based tools and resources that can be utilised to support those experiencing mental health issues.
- Highlight and understand the important role pharmacists play when intervening with common mental health issues.
